Seventeen Caxton Award winners have just been announced with SapientNitro winning the Quinlivan Black Award.
Caxton Awards for Excellence in Newspaper Advertising have been awarded at a gala event at the Hyatt Regency, Coolum, on the Sunshine Coast, during the 2009 Caxton Seminar weekend.
SapientNitro was awarded the prestigious Quinlivan Black Award for the Tourism Queensland “Best Job in the World” newspaper advertisement.
The Quinlivan Black Award is chosen each year by the Chairman of Judges for one ad or campaign that he or she feels is best overall for that year.
Caxton Awards Chairman of Judges 2009, Warren Brown, from BMF, said: “All of the judges wanted to see newspaper advertising put its best foot forward, so the selection of work and awarding of Caxtons was a very enjoyable experience and one that made me proud to be chairman.
“When we in advertising look to start a conversation with our audience, what better place to begin than in a newspaper, and how engaging or stimulating that conversation will be can only be determined by the strength of the idea.
“When all we want is for our client’s voice to be heard above the din created by others we can often forget that the best solution is to simply put an idea out there that is so strong, it requires no elaborate wrapping or unnecessary decoration, and this year’s winner of the Quinlivan Black Award proves that in spades,” Brown said.
Commenting on the Caxton Award winners this year, Caxton Chairman Rob Belgiovane from Belgiovane Williams Mackay said: “We were very impressed with the breadth and scope of Caxton Award entries from Australia and New Zealand this year.
“Creative standards in newspaper advertising are continuing to improve and the medium itself inspires brilliant advertising ideas,” Begiovane said.
