In papers, April 28, 29 & 30

Topical Royal Wedding ads from Coopers, IKEA, Krispy Kreme, Australia Post, Myer, Domayne, Coles and more.

Advertisers used newspapers to align their brand to one of the biggest news events of 2011 – the Royal Wedding.

Coopers and IKEA used the event to playfully build their brand and enhance their identity.  Both Coopers ads ran in an Adelaide metropolitan newspaper, sharing their sense of humour with the locals (Coopers Brewery originated in South Australia).

Krispy Kreme, Myer (not featured) and Australia Post used the Royal Wedding as a tactical opportunity to run promotions, while Domayne and Coles (both not featured) used the event to drive sales and special discounts.

Channel 7 ran a full-page newspaper ad in a metropolitan newspaper on the eve of the event highlighting their coverage of the wedding.

Finally, Jaguar (not featured) ran a banner ad on a newspaper website  for its XK and XF models. The tagline read "Britain's Newest Power Couple".

See topical newspaper ads from April Fool’s Day 2011, where IKEA and Krispy Kreme also made an appearance.
