The latest speakers to join the stellar line up are Twitter’s media director, Danny Keens, and the editor-in-chief of The Sydney Morning Herald, Darren Goodsir.

The headline-speakers for this year’s two-day conference include the chief consumer officer of The New York Times, Yasmin Namini, world-leading app designer Joe Zeff, and Pit Gottschalk, the director of content at Axel Springer, Germany’s largest publisher.
Mark Little, the founder of Storyful – the company that now supplies news content to Facebook – leads the social media component of the conference, while local advertising identities Mat Baxter and Jules Hall discuss the tumultuous changes in the advertising sector and what this means for the commercial future of our industry.
Allied closely to this discussion will be the highly anticipated Chief Executives’ Forum, featuring Julian Clarke (News Corp Australia), Greg Hywood (Fairfax Media), Michael Miller (APN News & Media) and Chris Wharton (West Australian Newspapers and Seven West Media). They will explore the commercial challenges and opportunities they see for Australian and New Zealand media in the next 12 months.
Their debate, hosted by TV and advertising identity Russel Howcroft, will follow an opening address by the Minister for Communications, Malcolm Turnbull, who has flagged the possibility of changes to media ownership laws. Mr Turnbull was a successful media executive and is one of the nation’s most passionate and thought-provoking speakers on the future of media.
The theme of this year’s conference – Get Closer – captures the challenge and solutions that leading newspapers around the world have used to integrate their journalism into the lives of readers.
From data journalism, social media and crowd-sourcing, to good old fashioned client care, this year’s Future Forum reveals how the world’s top publishers are reinventing their businesses and igniting reader passions in print and digital.
Delegates will be able to share their visions and experiences in a Future Forum designed to meet the needs of local industry as it calibrates to a world where print and digital media profit together.
Day 1 – to be held at The Establishment in the heart of Sydney – features a series of Masterclasses for Journalism, Advertising & Marketing, and Print & Production. These events will be followed by the Advertising & Marketing Awards.
Day 2 – at The Ivy in Sydney’s CBD – features the Plenary conference sessions, followed by The Newspaper of the Year Gala Night and Awards.
